German YouTuber Jan Zimmermann died on Nov. 18. He was 27.

In an Instagram post sharing the news on Nov. 24, the internet personality’s family members said he died “suddenly and unexpectedly” from an epileptic seizure.

“His humor, his honesty, and his big heart were gifts he shared with everyone,” the family wrote in German. “He gave courage to people who never met him personally and showed them that even in difficult times, one can navigate life with love and openness.”

Police reportedly told Bild, a German newspaper, that Zimmermann was found dead in his apartment on Nov. 18 and that a subsequent autopsy determined that there was “no evidence of foul play.”

Zimmerman, who had Tourette's syndrome, was one-half of the YouTube channel Gewitter im Kopf, where he and his friend Tim Lehmann shared humorous and informational videos about living with the neurological disorder to over 2 million subscribers.

“There are no words to describe the pain we are feeling, but we would like to thank you for your condolences,” the family wrote in their post. “Forever loved, forever forgotten, we let you go, but never gone.

Zimmerman shared his last post to Instagram, a comedic video filmed with Lehmann, on Nov. 17, the day before his death. His last YouTube video, a cooking video, was uploaded in July.

In the comments of his final posts, fans and followers of Zimmerman’s wrote tributes to the late internet star.

“Thank you for everything you have done for people with tourettes 🤍rest in peace 🕊️” wrote one.

“I’m so sorry about this. My deepest [sympathy] to the family. Jan was truly a wonderful person,” shared another.

Penned a third: “Rest in peace our icon, thank you for always sharing your shine with us 🕊️🤍”
