Ree Drummond Calls Out Daughter Paige for Putting Up Christmas Tree 'a Little Early,' but She Has a Good Reason

Ree Drummond and her daughter Paige got into a playful debate on holiday decorating.

The mother-daughter duo addressed the topic during a Walmart Live highlighting the Pioneer Woman holiday collection, recorded last week.

“I already put up my Christmas tree,” Paige, 26, admitted to her mom.

“That’s a little early,” Ree, 56, replied, adding, “I used to be a proud December 17th Christmas tree person.”

However, Paige had a valid explanation for why she wants her home to feel festive before Turkey Day — she likes to complete the task before traveling from her home in Dallas to the Drummond family ranch in Pawhuska, Okla.

"That way, when I come up here for Thanksgiving and then I go back, it's set up and ready to go!" Paige said, to which Ree agreed, “That’s true.”

“Are you coming here for Thanksgiving next week?” the Food Network star then asked.

“Obviously,” Paige responded, before Ree noted, “I just thought I’d lock that in.”

Ree told PEOPLE in September that Paige and her husband David Andersen, who tied the knot in May, decided to start their married life in Dallas.

Ree added that she and husband Ladd “totally understood” the choice.

“They were long distance for most of their dating relationship, and I think they just are having fun living together,” she said of the newlyweds.

Before the move, Paige had been living in Pawhuska and working with Ladd on the family’s cattle ranch since fall 2024. 

Last year, Ree shared a video documenting her effort to decorate a giant Christmas tree on Dec. 8.

“Please for the love of Pete, wait for the end,” she captioned the Instagram reel.

“It took me the greater part of the day and four long movies,” she revealed, adding, “I guess ornaments are next?!” 

Ree added that the movies — which she called "an important part of my journey" — were The Insider, No Country for Old Men, Interstellar and Inception, rather than the holiday classics fans might have expected.

Ree was seen using a large, red step ladder to reach the top of the tall tree, even balancing on the stairs of her home to reach a tricky spot.

Commenters joked about the tree’s huge size, with one asking, “Why didn’t you get the big tree?!”

Another teased, “You have 75 people in your family! No one was around to help? At least hold the ladder??”
