Meet the Real-Life Loves of the “Stranger Things” Cast (Including the Couple Who Recently Welcomed a Baby!)

4 days ago 7

Fans of Netflix’s Stranger Things have watched plenty of on-screen romances unfold — but several cast members have love lives that are just as intriguing when the cameras aren’t rolling.

In fact, several cast members were in long-term romances before Stranger Things season 1 premiered in July 2016, including Winona Ryder and Cara Buono. Meanwhile, other stars have celebrated major milestones in between seasons, including Millie Bobby Brown, who married Jake Bongiovi in May 2024.

The couple have since become parents, welcoming a baby girl via adoption in the summer of 2025.

"I’m just really happy for her," the actress' Stranger Things costar Noah Schnapp told E! News in September 2025. "I’m really excited to see her flourish [as a mom].”

Here's everything to know about the real-life loves of the Stranger Things cast.

Over the course of the show, Ryder's Joyce Byers has had three love interests: Lonnie Byers (Ross Partridge), Bob Newby (Sean Astin) and Jim Hopper (David Harbour). However, in real life, Ryder has been dating sustainable fashion entrepreneur Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011.

Shortly after the two were first spotted together at the season 1 premiere of Stranger Things, Ryder revealed in a 2016 interview that she'd been "happily with someone for quite a while now." However, the two don't appear to have plans to settle down anytime soon.

"Marriage? I don't know. I'd rather never have been married than been divorced a few times," Ryder previously told The Edit. "Not that there's anything wrong with divorce, but I don't think I could do it if that was a possibility."

She added, "When your parents are madly in love for 45 years, your standards are really high."

Brown's Eleven has been romantically linked to Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) throughout Stranger Things. Off-screen, Brown is married to Bongiovi, the son of musician Jon Bon Jovi.

The couple quietly wed in May 2024 before exchanging vows again in Italy that October. In the summer of 2025, Brown and Bongiovi became parents for the first time when they welcomed a baby girl via adoption.

Brown has expressed her interest in expanding her family in the future.

"I really want a big family. I'm one of four. [Jake is] one of four. So, it is definitely in our future," she said during a March 2025 episode of the Smartless podcast. "For me, I don't see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting. My home is full of love for anyone and anything. That is what we stand by, Jake and I."

Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson on Stranger Things, is in a relationship with Lizzy Yu. The couple started dating in 2018, stepping out alongside each other at their junior prom and red carpet premieres.

They've also posted sweet tributes in celebration of their anniversaries.

"Five years. Thanks for putting up with me every day. I love you," the actor wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post in 2023.

This Stranger Things pair is a couple both on- and off-screen. Though Natalia Dyer's Nancy Wheeler was linked to Steve (Joe Keery) in season 1, she eventually started dating Charlie Heaton's Jonathan Byers on the show — and then eventually in real life, as well.

The pair ignited more dating rumors in 2017 when they were spotted together at the Los Angeles International Airport after attending the Golden Globes. The couple ultimately made their red carpet debut at the 2017 Fashion Awards in London.

In February 2019, Heaton opened up about the benefits of dating someone in the same industry.

"They understand something that maybe no one else would," he told V Man. "You go into high-pressure situations together but you can share those insecurities or whatever they are."

Maya Hawke, who has played Robin Buckley on Stranger Things since season 3, is romantically linked to singer Christian Lee Hutson.

The couple made their red carpet debut in April 2025 when they stepped out to support Hawke's Stranger Things costar Sadie Sink at the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain at New York City's Booth Theater.

The two have also worked with each other on music, collaborating on Hawke’s second studio album, Moss, and her most recent album, Chaos Angel, which was released in May 2024. Hawke also performed on Hutson’s album Paradise Pop. 10.

“It was instant chemistry between the two of us,” Hawke told Rolling Stone in September 2022, speaking of the first time she worked with Hutson. “He wrote exactly what I heard in my head, but better. His music is the music that I would dream of making myself. He’s a brilliant person.”

Dacre Montgomery and Liv Pollock

Dacre Montgomery, who plays Billy Hargrove on Stranger Things, is engaged to model Liv Pollock.

Back in April 2018, Pollock told Australia's The Daily Telegraph that she and Montgomery met one another through "mutual contacts from work," but started talking "through social media."

"It grew from there," she said. "We are both also really passionate about design — I'm studying architecture, and Dacre has studied interior design, so we were drawn to each other through our mutual love of design."

Montgomery proposed in November 2023 after six years of dating.

"Engaged in our first home before the renovations begin. Surprised by family, friends and good food, we dined in our future bedroom," Pollock wrote on Instagram. "Messages left on our walls by our loved ones, hidden for year's to come. An Emerald, my favourite stone. Mounted on a simple band so that we can design the ring together."
