Kris Jenner Reveals Her Mom MJ, 91, 'Refused' to Move In with Her When She Asked and the Reason Why

Kris Jenner is opening about a sticking point in her relationship with her 91-year-old mother, MJ.

In an appearance on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast on Monday, Nov. 17, the Kardashian-Jenner family matriarch was asked about her relationship with her own mother, who has appeared on the family's shows over the years.

"What do you still go to your mother for, who's 91?" Shetty, 38, asked.

"Everything. I talk to her every day on the phone. We help each other with what we're going to watch. She loves Dateline as much as I do," Jenna, 70, shared, earning a laugh from Shetty.

The momager continued, "So, we're like, 'What murder mystery are we going to watch tonight?' And then she'll say, 'Okay, I was sad today. So, we're going to watch a comedy.' And we'll say, 'Okay, which one?' And so, we have great fun just, you know, doing that together."

She then revealed that MJ lives a mile away from her, and spends part of her time in La Jolla, Calif. "I try to get her to move in with me, but she refuses. She's so independent, which I admire and love," Jenner continued.

She added that MJ has "beautiful views, so she sends me photos every day of how much she appreciates the ocean and her surroundings," and that they "just have great fun together."

"It's amazing. It's beautiful what she passed down," Shetty chimed in.

In 2024, Jenner shared a sweet Instagram tribute to her mother in honor of her 90th birthday. The post included a photo of Kris, MJ and Kim Kardashian, in addition to several snapshots of the mother-daughter duo over the years.

“Thank you my beautiful mommy, for teaching me to be a strong, independent woman,” she wrote. “Thankful for everything, expecting nothing, but willing to work as hard as I can for everything and at the same time to be kind to everyone and generous beyond measure.” 

MJ is grandmother to Kris's 6 kids: daughters Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Kendall Jenner, and son Rob Kardashian.
