"We've recently started blaming things on Luigi, who's a made up roommate," Jutes, 34, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"If he leaves a towel on the floor, it's neither of our fault, we didn't do it. And we'll be like, 'Luigi left a wet towel on the floor again,'" he says with a laugh. "We blame everything on Luigi."

On a more serious note, Jutes — who recently released a new single titled  "It Takes Two" — says that he and Lovato, 33, are always "honest" with one another and know that they're always "on the same team."

"Our communication styles just work really well together and it's very easy, very effortless," he says.

Reflecting on their status as newlyweds, Jutes says that "married life is awesome."

"We thought that when we got married that we couldn't love each other any more than we do. And we are somehow so much closer now than even when we got married. It's still growing and still evolving," Jutes says.

He continues, "I would say I'm a big fan of married life... I found my person. I feel very lucky that I've found her."

Meanwhile, Lovato opened up about their relationship in an Oct. 30 interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, and she got emotional as she explained that her love has only grown since they tied the knot.

"I’ve definitely been in relationships before and thought I’ve been in love, but I’ve never loved like this," said Lovato.

"I never knew that you could be with someone who your love could continue to grow for every single day," the "Fast" singer continued. "On the day that I got married, I was like, ‘Okay, this is it. I’m the most in love I’ve ever been in my life, and this is what it’s gonna be forever.’ And I was so wrong because it just has kept growing."

Lovato added, "It’s been five months since we got married, but I’m like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know it was possible to love you more than I did on our wedding day.’"
