Jane Lynch Is Celebrating the National Dog Show by Bringing Back “Best in Show”'s Famous Busy Bee Toy

The 2025 National Dog Show Presented by Purina is almost here, and Jane Lynch is celebrating by revisiting her favorite fictional dog, the Mayflower Dog Show from Best in Show.

The Christopher Guest cult comedy starring Lynch, Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Parker Posey, and more hit the 25th anniversary mark in 2025, and the film inspired another longstanding tradition: the National Dog Show itself.

After watching Best in Show with friends in 2000, NBC's Jon Miller, currently President of Acquisitions & Partnerships at NBC Sports, got the idea that a real dog show could capture America's attention, too.

"When Best in Show premiered, it gave audiences a hilarious and heartfelt look into the world of competitive dog shows — a world we proudly showcase every Thanksgiving," said Miller.

So with Best in Show turning 25 and the 24th annual National Dog Show Presented by Purina set to air on NBC on Nov. 27 after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Lynch, 65, thought it was the perfect time to partner with Purina and bring back one of Best in Show's most iconic characters, Busy Bee.

Yes, the long-lost dog toy from the satirical movie is back, and your dog can get their own.

"I'm really excited about having found Busy Bee," Lynch tells PEOPLE, adding the bumblebee toy has "been missing for 25 years" and unavailable to the public.

Dog-owning Best in Show fans can enter for a chance to win one of 2,500 Busy Bee dog toys available by downloading and signing up for the MyPurina app now through Dec. 1. After downloading the app, visit the Rewards Catalog and redeem the National Dog Show Busy Bee Sweepstakes Entry item. Winners are set to be selected by Dec. 12.

Lynch's dog, Susie, has a Busy Bee of her own. The Celebrity Weakest Link host adopted the canine several months ago. Susie is a senior dog estimated to be between 10 and 12 years old.

For the past 15 years, Lynch has been adopting senior dogs from A Purposeful Rescue in Los Angeles.

"We just get the old ones, and we usher them out of this world. We usually have them for three or four years, and we just love them up," Lynch says of her pets.

Lynch and Susie are looking forward to watching the National Dog Show this year. Their favorite part is seeing the champion canine's reaction.

"I love seeing the footage of the winner, and I love the joy in the dog when they win," Lynch says.

She hopes other pet parents get to enjoy the National Dog Show too, preferably with a Busy Bee by your dog's side.
