- David Berman, 84, died in March at his home near Manchester, U.K.
- His wife Daryl Berman is on trial for his murder, which had initially been ruled accidental
- Daryl, 71, denies the allegations and says they were a loving couple
A British woman on trial in connection with her husband's death reportedly wrote "bye bye" with loving drawings on the calendar entry for the date he died, a court heard this week.
Daryl Berman, 71, is on trial for the March murder of her 84-year-old husband David Berman, in Bury, a suburb of Manchester, England.
David died on March 13 after being injured with a knife, according to the Manchester Evening News and The Bury Times. While investigators initially believed the death was an accident, a doctor who was "troubled" by his injuries sought an expert's opinion, per the Manchester Evening News.
Daryl, who the Manchester Evening News says is a former nurse, was charged with murdering David in May, the BBC reported at the time.
Daryl denies the allegations and maintains claims that her husband fell on a knife in their kitchen, per the Manchester Evening News and The Bury Times.
During her trial this week, Daryl testified that when she heard the fall, she ran to the kitchen and found him face down, making a "gurgling noise," per The Bury Times.
The court also heard that Daryl's calendar had an entry for March 13 that said "Bye bye" next to "two kisses" and a "heart," the Manchester Evening News and The Bury Times reported.
When asked about it in court, she admitted to doing so, claiming she has done this before.
“I put it on at the end of the day when everyone had gone and I was ready to go to bed," she said, according to The Bury Times.

Daryl also told the court that David had become forgetful and "was just not coping that well,” The Bury Times reported.
The couple were known to be "loving and mutually supportive" and had no history with law enforcement or domestic violence, the court heard.
The trial continues.
