  • Bobby Flay discussed his relationship with girlfriend Brooke Williamson on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show
  • The Food Network star said the diamond he recently gave Williamson was simply "a commitment ring," adding, "I'm not engaged"
  • “We both don’t want to get married again,” Flay said of the two chefs

Bobby Flay is clearing up recent engagement rumors sparked by a gift for girlfriend Brooke Williamson.

During a visit to Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, the celebrity chef, 60, addressed the diamond ring he gave the Sun-Kissed Cooking author, 47, in October.

“She was wearing a diamond the size of my head,” joked Duran, referring to an Instagram photo Flay posted of Williamson’s hand in her jean pocket, showing off the new piece of jewelry.

However, Flay insisted, “It’s a commitment ring. I’m not engaged.”

The Bobby’s Triple Threat star then went on to explain the couple’s relationship status, noting that there are no wedding plans in the works at this time.

“We both don’t want to get married again,” Flay said. “It’s okay. So, like, it’s great having a life partner. And so I wanted to give her something significant to make her feel committed. That’s all.”

Duran pointed out that Flay already has “a beautiful, beautiful family,” including daughter Sophie Flay, 29, who was present during the interview.

“Yes, I do, but Brooke also has a 17-year-old son,” Flay noted. “It’s all coming together like The Brady Bunch.”

Williamson shares son Hudson with her ex-husband Nick Roberts, and Flay welcomed Sophie during his previous marriage to Kate Connelly.

Shortly after Flay first shared a photo of Williamson wearing the ring on Oct. 14 , a source close to the couple exclusively revealed to PEOPLE that while it was a gift from Flay, the two Food Network stars were not engaged.

During an interview days later at the New York City Wine & Food Festival, Williamson told PEOPLE that there wasn’t “a huge story behind" the ring.

“[Bobby is] a very generous, wonderful, romantic man and it was a really thoughtful gift, and that's what it is,” she said.

Flay previously credited the two culinary stars’ shared experiences when reflecting on why their relationship works.

“We are both in the restaurant business,” Flay told PEOPLE in June. “We have tons to talk about in terms of the things that we love to do besides just go and have dinner every once in a while. So it's been really great."

Flay continued, "And one of the things I really like about being in a relationship with Brooke is that she's great to bounce things off of. Like we ask each other's opinion about things that we're doing food food-wise or restaurant-wise wise or business-wise, all the time. So it's really nice to have kind of a best friend that you're dating that can also be helpful answering the questions that you have.”

This will be the chefs’ first holiday season as an official couple, after the pair — who appear together on both Bobby’s Triple Threat and the Food Network series BBQ Brawl — went public with their romance in March.

Flay recently confirmed that he and Williamson would be spending Turkey Day together during an Instagram Q&A about Beat Bobby Flay: Holiday Throwdown.

Responding to a fan who asked what his “favorite holiday tradition” was, Flay wrote, “Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year. This year, I get to share it with @chefbrookew. I don’t have to do ALL of the cooking.”
