Hours after the 12-year-old boy was stabbed, two teenage boys were stabbed in separate incidents in the same city

  • Hours later, in Ridgewood, Queens, a 13-year-old boy was stabbed in his chest, and a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the back, the New York Police Department told PEOPLE in a statement
  • All three boys are stable; however, the 12-year-old boy remains in critical condition

Three minors have been stabbed in separate incidents in Brooklyn and Queens on Thursday, Dec. 18, the New York Police Department said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

First, around 3 p.m. local time, authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a playground at Thomas S. Boylan St. and Dumont Ave. in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Upon their arrival, a 12-year-old boy was found with a stab wound in his chest.

EMS responded and transported the boy to Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. He remains in critical but stable condition. 

Two individuals were taken into custody, and the investigation remained ongoing, NYPD said.

Shortly after, just before 5 p.m., police responded to a 911 call that two minors were stabbed on Seneca Ave. and Palmetto St. in Ridgewood, Queens. 

Authorities discovered a 13-year-old boy had been stabbed in his chest, and a 15-year-old boy sustained a stab wound to the back.

Both teens were transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition. 

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Thursday, Dec. 18, stabbings come two days after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the abdomen while on a MTA bus in the Jamaica, Queens neighborhood. He was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect exited the bus at the intersection of Parsons Boulevard and 82 Drive and fled on foot to parts unknown. The suspect was last seen wearing a burgundy jacket, teal sweatpants, black socks, white sneakers, and had a black purse, according to an NYPD news release.
